From the beginning we said that the aim of this paper is to answer the question regarding the nature of identification among the spectators, men and women, and Dexter, brother, caring friend and boyfriend but is able to " kill a man, dismember his body and be home in time for the David Letterman Show. "In light of what is being exposed, the only thing we can say with certainty is that the success of the TV series is due to a number of historical factors, cultural and psychological skillfully exploited by the authors to create a climate of spontaneous complicity between the viewer and the protagonist. Everything else is the result of my own analysis, as such, may be acceptable or not.

Of course the weakness and vulgarity di molti programmi televisivi giustificano gran parte di queste accuse; tuttavia credo che a fare di tutta l’erba un fascio si corra il rischio di sottovalutare prodotti culturalmente validi e interessanti come Dexter.
